11 Dengue deaths reported since 26th September Parismita Gosh died due to the virus on Wednesday evening, Sources said she had been suffering from high fever. A blood test had confirmed that she had dengue. Hospital sources said her platelet count was going down rapidly and she had developed severe “gram-negative” sepsis .On Thursday morning, 58-year-year-old Gokul Mukherjee of MID Road in Behala’s Parnashree acceded to dengue at CMRI Hospital.
The recent deaths have become a cause of concern for the public, health department officials claimed the situation was under control. “There have been a few cases of dengue. However, there is nothing to panic as the number of people affected is not that alarming,” said a health official. Last year as well dengue cases were reported in huge number.
Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne infection that causes severe flu-like symptoms and can be fatal. Treatment includes fluids and pain relievers. Severe cases require hospital care. In a small proportion of cases, the disease develops into the dengue hemorrhage fever, resulting in bleeding, low levels of blood platelets and blood plasma leakage, or dengue shock syndrome, where dangerously low blood pressure occurs. Acetaminophen can control pain and reduce fever. Avoid pain relievers that can increase bleeding complications such as aspirin, ibuprofen and naproxen sodium. Fever generally subsides in 4-5 days. Low platelet count usually persists for 5-7 days after fever subsides. Thereafter, platelet count usually starts recovering gradually. For all the symptoms to disappear will few days to weeks.

Red meat such as beef, organ meat such as kidney and liver, green leafy vegetable such as spinach and kale. Dried fruits, such as prunes and raisins, beans, legumes, egg yolks are some healthy food to increase the blood.
Tests to Detect Dengue are Antibody titer for dengue virus types, Complete blood count (CBC) ,Serology studies to look for antibodies to dengue viruses.Drink lots of water and maintain a high nutrition die.
