Cancer In India is “Grave”, Says Government – MVR CANCON 2018

“Kerala has roughly 35,000 new cancer cases every year, based on the cancer registry data. There are 913 male and 974 female cancer patients per million in Kerala. A total of 100,000 cancer patients are in prevalence annually in the state.” according to Care Foundation. The Lancet this month shows that Kerala has the topmost cancer incidence rate in the country, becoming a major health challenge.

Most gene alteration occurs after you’re born and aren’t inherited. A number of forces can cause gene mutations, such as smoking, radiation, viruses, cancer-causing chemicals (carcinogens), obesity, hormones, chronic inflammation and absence of exercise.The most common risk factors for cancer include aging, tobacco, sun exposure, radiation exposure, chemicals and other substances, some viruses and bacteria

Initial symptoms of cancer in men include: bowel changes, abdominal bleeding, urinary changes, and blood in urine, constant back pain, unusual coughing, testicular lumps and excessive fatigue. ,. When cancer cultivates and harms tissue nearby, it can cause injury in those areas. It releases chemicals that irritate the area around the tumor. As tumors grow, they may put stress on bones, nerves, and organs around them. You may also feel pain that has nothing to do with cancer, like headaches and tight muscles. Complete blood count (CBC), this common blood test measures the amount of various types of blood cells in a sample of your blood.

“Projection and early revelation can go a long way in diminishing the cancer burden, the cancer in India is grave,MVRCCRI set up cancer screening units and satellite outpatient department centers. The center, which sprawls over 15.5 acres, is equipped with a fully mechanical histopathology laboratory, which is a first-of-its-kind in the country” Said Sathasivam at inaugural function of MVR CANCON, an international conference on oncology held at the MVR Cancer Centre and Research Institute (MVRCCRI) at Choolur in Kozhikode .
